Liverpool then wanted to revisit after the left-back played for his country in the Olympics, but this was never pursued.

Reports in Argentina suggested that River Plate were going to sign him amid interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United.

There were also claims that Soler would play his last game for his team Lanus a few weeks ago with a move imminent to the Premier League.

Since then, the news went silent around his name.

But now, Argentinian outlet Soy Del Millo have issued an update on the situation.

Soler close to Liverpool?

The report has suggested that River Plate have a plan to hijack the defender from the English club's lure.

It states, “The intention of the Brazilian club (River Plate) is to offer 2 million dollars plus the transfer of midfielder Giuliano Galoppo.”

“Considering that Soler's career has just begun, River is an excellent option. The club has already proven to be a showcase for young people both from the youth teams and from other teams.”

“Liverpool or Manchester United offer him a global stage, but most likely a few minutes on the pitch.”

The article further explains in depth how Soler needs to think about his talent and what is best for his development. Taking the leap to the Premier League at a young age may mean he gets limited game time when he needs as many minutes on the field to build up experience physically and mentally.

Liverpool are willing to splash out £13 million on the young defender which is exceedingly more than what River Plate are offering.

This would be an incredibly exciting arrival for Reds fans as the Argentinian would be able to learn off of the experienced Andy Robertson before eventually replacing him in this role.

Moreover, the arrival would most likely occur in the January window with the player eager for a move as soon as possible to another club.

Now the signing isn’t set in stone and others are as close as Liverpool to gaining his services, but the excitement is building and it may not be long before we see a new name on the team sheet at left-back.
