Liverpool are set to 'accelerate' their transfer business in the coming weeks, submitting their 'first concrete bids' for targets over the next ten days.

Liverpool are the only Premier League club not to have added to their first-team squad this summer, with a handful of senior squad members having also left the club for free at the end of last season.

The lack of transfer activity has understandably proved frustrating for supporters ahead of Arne Slot's debut campaign but that could all be about to change.

According to The Independent, the Reds will step up their business over the next week-and-a-half as the 2024/25 Premier League season draws closer.

Writing for the outlet, journalist Miguel Delaney stated: "If the squad have now had the chance to get a feel for their new boss, their new boss has had more than enough time to get a feel for the squad.

"In short, Slot now has more of a handle on what he wants, and what he needs.

"The belief around the Liverpool camp is that transfer business will finally accelerate next week, as the opening Premier League game away to Ipswich Town on 17 August comes into view. The next 10 days are likely to see the first concrete bids put in."

WHERE MIGHT LIVERPOOL STRENGTHEN?

Delaney goes on to report where Liverpool might make new signings, suggesting a trio of positions that the Reds are targeting.

"Liverpool are now looking for a centre-half, a defensive midfielder and a wide forward, although potentially two of the latter," he added.

However, Delaney admits that the Reds will have to sell players this summer in order to recoup funds.

"All of this [transfer business] is likely to be offset by outgoings, with Slot currently deciding who he is making available to sell," the journalist wrote.

Slot himself suggested that he would be surprised if Liverpool didn't make any first-team signings this summer, while admitting that conducting business was still complicated.

Delaney names a number of players within his report, with Anthony Gordon frequently mentioned.

Liverpool had been in discussions with Newcastle United at the end of June over the winger but a move never materialised. Delaney claims that the two clubs were "some way apart" in negotiations for the boyhood Liverpool fan.

The report also mentions centre-back Leny Yoro - who has now joined Manchester United - as one of the Reds' previous targets, but suggests that Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho has "long been viewed as a potential option". He would cost around £50m.

In defensive midfield, it's claimed that Martin Zubimendi was of interest to the Reds, although Delaney hints that that may no longer be the case.
