Liverpool CLOSE to sealing deal for Brazilian star
Liverpool reportedly have one transfer lined up as reports claim they're 'close' to signing a Premier League star.
There's a lot of attention on Liverpool's squad after the UEFA Champions League exit this week. For all they've done this season, it was clear that things need to change.
Liverpool Transfer News: Reds told who they must sign as €100m deal lined up to REPLACE Salah
Paris Saint-Germain played Liverpool off the park at times, particularly in the first leg. The Reds struggled to get a foothold in the away fixture, while at home, it was a case of the forwards being unable to create decent chances.
And so despite everything Arne Slot has achieved with this squad, everyone should expect a summer shake-up. Anfield Watch understands an overhaul is coming in attack, while plenty of sources claim a defensive upgrade is coming.
But midfield is a strange one. It's been an area of strength for Liverpool this season, but the PSG tie showed a real weakness - winning the ball back against teams that are efficient in possession.
It's clear that Slot doesn't quite trust Wataru Endo to be a destroyer from the get-go (he's yet to start a Premier League fixture) but it's also clear that the team needs someone. Maybe they've found him.

Liverpool 'close' to signing Joao Gomes
Gazete do Urubu - a Brazilian site specialising on Flamengo - claims Wolves midfielder Joao Gome is 'close' to Liverpool. The 24-year-old is expected to be on the move this summer.
They suggest several major European clubs want to sign Gomes, as well as Manchester United, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League. It's Liverpool, though, who lead this race.
The Flamengo outlet is reporting on this because of a heft sell-on clause in Gomes's contract. He joined Wolves from the Brazilian giants, who now stand to make 14 per cent on any profit in his sale.

They're also talking about a sale of around €60m - that's a large chunk of change for Flamengo.
Gomes has been one of Wolves best players this season and he's grown his reputation despite their poor form. The Brazilian's ability to win the ball back (he's in the 97th percentile for tackles among midfielders in Europe's top five leagues) quite plainly appeals to Liverpool.
Is he the defensive-minded midfield they're after? €60m does seem steep, given how much more business Liverpool intend to do this summer.
A long way to go before anything needs to be finalised - so let's see what happens.
