Star confirms Liverpool decision with new 5-year contract
Liverpool got the final decision from one star as he agreed a new five-year contract. The Reds can move forward now.
It's an incredibly busy summer for Liverpool with both signings and departures. Of course, the big three contract situations will define things.
Liverpool Transfer News Today: Reds prepare RECORD bid as star is READY to join
Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the season. More specifically, they're out of contract at the end of June - July 1st makes them free men.
They're able to leave Liverpool if they wish, though the Reds would ideally keep all three. It comes down to not just money but the length of their respective contracts.
And as you've likely noticed, all parties are struggling to find common ground. But these aren't the only concerns at Anfield right now.
Liverpool could also lose the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarrel Quansah, Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. All of them have interest in them and various situations - both contract related and with playing time - leave them open to exits.
Then come the arrivals. Liverpool would love to sign Alexander Isak but that's going to take a lot of negotiation with Newcastle United.
Milos Kerkez is on the agenda, too, but Bournemouth won't let him go on the cheap. In other words, all these situations will take time - and it risks bloating Liverpool's summer.

A contract is signed
One transfer situation has ended, though. Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has signed a new five-year contract with the club, ending speculation over a summer sale.
And there was plenty of it. Liverpool have tracked Gomes for some time now as he's the kind of midfielder they lack.
Recent reports suggested they were quite involved in various talks for the player to see if a summer deal was on the cards. He's now ended that speculation with a long-term contract.

Of course, it only ends the speculation 'for now'. Liverpool will continue to monitor Gomes as he turns out for Wolves and could even look into a move next year - you never know.
For now, though, this one has been put to bed. Gomes won't be moving this summer and Liverpool will have other areas of the team to focus on.

So perhaps this is a positive - Gomes will almost certainly be waiting when Liverpool next look to develop their midfield.
