Liverpool line up £33m deal to sign Man City academy graduate
Despite Liverpool’s early success under Arne Slot, the coming summer will be one of change at Anfield.
Liverpool Transfer Latest: Arne Slot confirms Reds plans as Luis Diaz sale imminent
An overhaul of the Reds’ attack is set to take place at the end of the season, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch, but there will be other positions that will need to be a priority too.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract in less than five months and new deals for the trio now seem increasingly unlikely.
Whilst it will be nearly impossible to come away better off if all three stars leave on a free, Liverpool may have already found the man to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Frimpong could be Liverpool bound
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Jeremie Frimpong has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place with Bayer Leverkusen that he will be allowed to leave the club for €40 million (£33 million) in the summer.
The report also confirms that Liverpool and Manchester City alongside Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.
The Dutch international is a graduate of Manchester City’s academy, although he never made a senior appearance for the club.

Frimpong, who has scored three goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances this season, has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while and, although the Reds are yet to ramp up their interest in the former Celtic man, he could be Liverpool bound this summer if Alexander-Arnold moves on from Anfield.
Would Frimpong fit at Liverpool?
Although considered a right-sided wing-back, Frimpong plays further up the field that Liverpool's fullbacks typically do, so there would need to either be a tactical shift from Slot or Frimpong would have to get used to playing deeper than he does at Leverkusen.
The Reds' fullbacks have played a more reserved role under Arne Slot than they did under his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, but they still play an important role.
Alexander-Arnold has the second most assists for the Reds in all competitions this season, behind only Salah, and Frimpong’s ability on the ball would suit Liverpool’s dynamic attacking play.
The fullbacks in Slot’s side also have a great deal of defensive responsibility, and this is an area where many supporters feel Conor Bradley is stronger than Alexander-Arnold, and the same may be true for Frimpong who has traditionally played a more attacking role.
A deal for Frimpong may not be easy to complete with other elite sides also interested, but he could prove to be a shrewd signing for Richard Hughes if an agreement can be reached.

Liverpool fans will remain hopeful that Alexander-Arnold will extend his stay in Merseyside, but for only €40 million Frimpong could be a great option to replace him if he does move on.
