Fans just got a MASSIVE glimpse of Liverpool's future team
Liverpool fans may have been offered a glance into the future as the Netherlands took on Spain on Thursday night.
The Reds’ club captain Virgil van Dijk captained his national team as a goal from Cody Gakpo helped the Dutch to a 2-2 draw with Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

It isn’t just Van Dijk and Gakpo that Liverpool supporters will have been watching however, as one of the Reds’ transfer targets also caught the eye.
Reports have recently linked Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong with an Anfield switch, and the 24-year-old stole the show on Thursday night.
A look at Liverpool’s future
Frimpong, who has long been linked with a move to Merseyside, started on the right-wing for the Netherlands and put in a Man of the Match performance.
Although he failed to find the back of the net, Frimpong did provide an assist and was FotMob’s highest rated player on the pitch.
Gakpo has made Liverpool’s left-wing spot his own, and the sight of Gakpo on the left and Frimpong on the right could be something Liverpool fans see a lot more of next season.
Although the latter has mostly been deployed as a wing-back throughout his career, his display on Thursday showed just how well he can play when used higher up the pitch.
He is usually considered a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold when linked with Liverpool, but he could also be an option on the right-wing if Mohamed Salah departs at the end of the season.
Liverpool’s huge summer overhaul
The approaching summer transfer window will see massive changes for the Reds, and Anfield Watch exclusively revealed earlier in the year that a number of big names are set to depart.
Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the season too and, as things stand, the trio will all be departing on a free transfer.
This will leave Arne Slot’s side in desperate need of superstar additions, and Frimpong could be one of the marquee singings in Merseyside – either to fill the right-back spot or to be deployed further up the field as he was for his nation on Thursday.
Slot has enjoyed incredible success in his debut season with Liverpool, but this summer will see him have the opportunity to properly make his mark on the playing squad in the transfer window.
Dutch fans will have loved the combination of Gakpo and Frimpong on Thursday, and that duo could be one Reds get to see a lot more of next season.
