The Darwin Nunez experience continues at Liverpool. The Reds had a chance to move the Uruguayan on this month and call an end to it all - but decided not to.

As exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch, Al-Hilal offered £70m to sign Nunez before the Saudi Pro League deadline shut. Liverpool rejected it, however, as they wanted closer to £85m.

The fact Diogo Jota has struggled to remain fit played a significant role, too. The Telegraph claim Nunez had a massive offer to leave, though - they understand Al-Hilal were offering £29m per year.

But the striker stays and essentially has four months to save his Liverpool career. Perform well between now and the rest of the season and the Reds won't entertain offers (unless they're truly remarkable).

Though, he's now got a rival to compete with.

Liverpool send Jayden Danns on loan

Liverpool have sent Jayden Danns off on an excursion, with the striker joining Sunderland for the remainder of the campaign. It's an effort to give the youngster a run in senior football - and see if he can hack it.

Danns has looked brilliant every time he's stepped on the pitch for Liverpool, of course, but he is still a little raw. Arne Slot and co. have clearly decided he's not quite ready for regular first-team football at Anfield.

So here's his chance to earn it. We know that performing in the Championship can translate to the Premier League - an incredible number of top talents have made the jump over the last few years.

Liverpool also boast Harvey Elliott, who dropped down with Blackburn Rovers and thrived. He's since gone on to establish himself as a Premier League talent.

Danns could do the same with a bright few months at Sunderland, who are pushing for Premier League promotion. Set the world alight and Liverpool will find a place for a homegrown talent - and that could come at the cost of Nunez.

After all, another big offer for the Uruguayan, coupled with Danns proving himself at senior level, would make this an easy decision for Liverpool. The battle is on, then - who can stake the biggest claim to be the Reds' future?
