'Liverpool know it': What Ibrahima Konate intends to do next
Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions - the 20th time they have won the English top flight.
It marks the culmination of a terrific couple of weeks for the Reds, who earlier secured Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new contracts.

The club can now plan for the future with a degree more certainty - with two of their most important players safely signed up until 2027.

But sporting director Richard Hughes has got other contract issues coming down the track - not least in 2026. Caoimhin Kelleher and Andy Robertson are just two of the names out of contract next year with no clear picture over their fates as yet.
Perhaps most pressingly, however, Liverpool need to sort out a new deal for Ibrahima Konate or else risk losing him on a free in 2026.
PSG want to add Konate
Konate, 25, has emerged as Van Dijk’s preferred partner this season, finally nailing down a key role in the team having joined from RB Leipzig in 2021.
His future is far from secure however with the France international reported to be seeking a huge pay rise in order to stay at Anfield.
Currently, Konate earns around ÂŁ140,000 per week but would like ÂŁ200,000 per week to renew. Negotiations have been at a standstill with it reckoned that Liverpool will not go that high.
It leaves open the tantalising possibility that Liverpool could SELL this summer while Konate’s value remains high.
Real Madrid and - as revealed by Anfiled Watch - Paris Saint-Germain are keen on adding the France international, who cost Liverpool around ÂŁ35 million when he signed.
PSG would like to make Konate their club captain amid uncertainty over the future of Marquinhos, but that would require Liverpool entering into transfer negotiations.
Konate 'prefers' PSG
But if the Reds don’t get a fee for Konate this summer then he could opt to do a Trent Alexander-Arnold and run down his contract instead. Now it’s been claimed that Konate’s preference is to MOVE to the French capital - which is also his hometown.
That’s according to SportsZone, which claims the Reds are aware of the player’s intentions. “To date, Ibou prefers to join PSG, Liverpool knows it,” the French account states on X.
Hughes then could be between a rock and a hard place. If Konate is determined to move to Paris then there is little that can be done to dissuade him from his preference.

While the Reds will be loath to give in, it might be best to cash in this summer instead of repeating the Trent situation all over again.
