Liverpool have opened talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.

That’s according to a new report in Caught Offside, which claims Arsenal and Manchester United have also made contact with the Sweden international’s representatives.

The Frankfurt wonderkid, 20, has defied all expectations since signing from Malmo in 2023, excelling in Dino Toppmoller’s midfield. He is closing in on 70 appearances for the Bundesliga side and can fulfil functions in the No6 and No8 positions.
Larsson recently secured a contract extension with Frankfurt until 2029 but Caught Offside believes the club are ready to cash in this summer.
The report quotes a transfer fee of €60m (£50m) for the 6’2 star, who has scored four goals in 29 games across all competitions this season.
Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham are also thought to be keen on Larsson but it appears Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool are currently further ahead in the race.
Those clubs have been “indicating to the player’s representatives that they’d be ready to come in with big offers this summer,” says the report.
Liverpool linked with Larsson again
However no discussions have yet taken place at a club-to-club level although haven’t been ruled out. Right now it’s unknown whether Larsson would agitate for a move when the window opens.
It’s not the first time Liverpool have been linked with the emerging star with Richard Hughes reported to be keen on landing him back in October. Back then he was described as a blend of Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.
Liverpool have been looking for midfield reinforcements with Arne Slot depending heavily on a core four in the centre of the pitch. He uses Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones extensively but has been interested in recruiting Martin Zubimendi.

Larsson could potentially feature as an understudy to Gravenberch in defensive midfield or else provide a combative presence further forward.
