Liverpool can FINALLY sign special forward they've wanted since 2022
Liverpool have an exciting forward they've been keeping a close eye on since 2022 who they could finally since this year.
Liverpool FC News Today: Barcelona hero set to leave as Trent Alexander-Arnold nears agreement
Arne Slot's attacking depth is misleading. It looks great on paper but when you really delve into it, the worries start to creep in looking ahead to next season.
For one it's not guaranteed Mohamed Salah, who leads this line, will be at Anfield anymore.
For another, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Darwin Nunez. Anfield Watch reported exclusively that he is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia and that is set to continue into the summer window.
Then there is the uncertainty around Diogo Jota, who never seems to be able to stay fit for a consistent period of time. Meanwhile, Luis Diaz is entering the final two years of his deal at Liverpool and his future is up in the air too.
So based on that, it makes sense why Liverpool would be in the market for another attacker and the perfect player is someone they have been keeping their eye on since 2022.
Why Hugo Ekitike is the forward that will take Liverpool to the next level
The player we are talking about is Hugo Ekitike, who Football Transfers reported back in 2022, when he was still at Reims, was a player Liverpool wanted to sign.
Back then Ekitike was only a teenager but he was already lighting up Ligue 1 and earning comparisons to Kylian Mbappe in the process.
There's a reason why. Ekitike is explosive and he's prolific as well. Taller and even more of a physical specimen to contend with than Mbappe, it's no surprise eventually PSG lured him to the French capital.
Liverpool have no chance to poach him back then. But Ekitike never quite worked out for PSG. He struggled to break into the first team and left the club on a permanent deal joining Eintract Frankfurt after catching the eye on loan initially last season.
Ekitike has since proved why PSG's will rue that decision for years to come. He's scored 16 goals and has six assists in 28 appearances for the German side in all competition averaging a goal or assist ever 90.5 minutes.
And he's especially exploding onto the scene now as he takes the limelight in Omar Marmoush's absence, who joined Manchester City.
Ekitike has five goals in his last four games, netting in every single one of them and showing he can lead the line all by himself.
His brilliance against Ferencvaros in the Europa League showcased his nifty footwork as well inside the box with the 22-year-old bamboozling his opponent with a clever touch.
He is the full package. Ekitike can be a fox in the box type forward, who is clinical in front of goal and able to keep his composure. But he is a lot more than that as well.
He can drop deep, play out wide and really get himself involved in the build-up phase of the game.
The reason why he fits Frankfurt so well is because he is a fantastic presser of the ball as well. When he first emerged at Reims that was one of the things that was highlighted about him and he's maintained a level of consistency in his pressing.
Because of his speed he is able to smother defenders and force them into mistakes. That combined with his 1.90 towering height and long gait makes him an absolute nightmare to go up against.
He's clearly been on Liverpool's radar for three years and now perhaps is the best time to get him. Frankfurt are a club open to doing business and that means there is a deal to be done.
But if Liverpool dither they might miss out on him forever, because wherever Ekitike ends up next, it's unlikely they will be a club who will be open to doing business with the Reds.
So the time is now. Before it becomes too late.
