2024: Jurgen Klopp says he's Liverpool's 'best', 2025: Reds ready to SELL
Liverpool are prepared to move on from first-team stars in 2025. One of Jurgen Klopp's favourites could be sold as a result.
Arne Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp last year and what a debut season it's been. The Dutchman appears set to win the Premier League title with Liverpool - something only Klopp has managed since 1990.

The truly miraculous thing about it is that this isn't even really Slot's squad. It's very much Klopp's - the only addition has been Federico Chiesa, who joined right at the end of the transfer window.
And even then, he's played essentially no role in Liverpool's title charge. Slot has given him just 28 minutes across the entire season.
This is Klopp's squad, then, just without Joel Matip, Thiago or Adrian. But things will change in 2025.
Liverpool want to give Slot a squad for him and that means moving on some of the stars Klopp enjoyed. Trent Alexander-Arnold will be one of those - though the club aren't exactly moving him on to Real Madrid.
But there are others that Liverpool will choose to sell and one of those players was a true favourite of Klopp's.

Harvey Elliott could be sold
Sky Sports' Melissa Reddy reports that Liverpool would accept 'a good offer' for Harvey Elliott this summer. The midfielder hasn't really been used by Slot, with just 11 Premier League appearances and zero starts.
And that's surprising. Statistically, Elliott has been absolutely brilliant whenever he's featured and Klopp was an enormous fan.
The German actually labelled Elliott the team's 'best player' for a period to end his tenure. And Klopp was right, too - Elliott was fantastic last season.

But it's been clear for a while that Elliott struggles for gametime under Slot. The new boss just doesn't appear to rate him all that highly - certainly, 128 league minutes suggest that.

Liverpool are now ready to sell the player, despite him looking like one of the brightest prospects in English football. We'll see what the summer holds but the Reds are certainly preparing to make a very bold decision here.
