And it's one that does make sense. Arne Slot hasn't had a squad built for him or his playing style, instead inheriting Jurgen Klopp's and doing his best with it.

The only addition last summer was Federico Chiesa but the Italian has barely played. This time around, Liverpool are keen to hand Slot a squad that's specifically for him.

But it's a strange situation. This, after all, is almost certainly a title-winning squad. Those aren't usually torn up - this is essentially the best squad in the country, after all.

Liverpool believe there's more to come under Slot, though. Something very special could happen if they can fine-tune this squad under the Dutchman.

With that, though, come exits and Liverpool will move on some key stars in 2025. One player linked with a departure, however, is eager to stay.

Harvey Elliott wants to stay

The Daily Mail claims that Harvey Elliott is keen to remain at Anfield beyond this season. He 'hasn't given up' on making it at Liverpool, despite an alarming lack of starts under Slot.

Eliott was prominent in pre-season but an injury kept him out for a large part of the campaign. He's never really found his way back into regular football, despite looking bright whenever he's featured.

Liverpool certainly won't force Elliott out the door, either. They're happy for him to stay, though we imagine the club will listen closely to any decent offers this summer.

But as things stand, Elliott will try to be a part of the squad next season.

It would certainly be an enormous shame to see him leave Liverpool, as Elliott has consistently threatened to breakout into a fantastic player. Dreadfully unfortunate injuries have typically robbed him of that but Jurgen Klopp had him down as the club's best player for a period last season.

He can be a fantastic part of this team and it feels to us as though he just needs a bit more luck to go his way. A season without injury and with a bit more regular football and there's little doubt that Elliott can thrive.

Bournemouth certainly see it that way. The Mail report claims they're interested in signing the playmaker - an interesting proposition as the Reds prepare to make moves to a few of the Cherries' players.
