Star CONFIRMS Liverpool decision with new four-year extension
Liverpool have been linked with several right-backs as the uncertainty around Trent Alexander-Arnold continues. It’s widely expected that the 26-year-old will LEAVE Anfield for Real Madrid at the end of the season in a high-profile free transfer.
And although Conor Bradley is more than capable of stepping up, Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will no doubt seek to add depth to what could be a problem position.

Wesley Franca, Vanderson and Jeremie Frimpong are just a few of the names linked with a potential Anfield arrival but the noise surrounding one other candidate has been increasing in recent months.

Arne Slot gave a professional debut to Givairo Read for Feyenoord back in February 2024 in a UEFA Europa League knockout playoff round versus Roma.
The 18-year-old then started this season arguably as the Rotterdam side’s fourth-choice right-back. Lutsharel Geertruida moved to RB Leipzig while Bart Nieuwkoop and Jordan Lotomba have suffered season-limiting injuries.
It meant Feyenoord, now coached by Robin van Persie have had little option other than throw Read in at the deep end. And he has replied in stunning fashion.
Givairo Read steps up
The Dutch youth international has played 19 Eredivisie matches to date - adding seven assists, including six in his last five matches. One of those games included three assists for Read - a 6-2 win against FC Twente.
The youngster has also played three times in the Champions League - earning a red card after the final whistle in a hot contest against AC Milan.
Signed in 2023 from Volendam for Feyenoord’s under-18s, Read’s progress has been substantial. He signed a contract in September which would secure his future until 2028.
And now comes the confirmation that Read has renewed his contract for a further year - extending his terms until 2029.
Read signs new Feyenoord deal
"The fact that Feyenoord is already rewarding me with a new contract says a lot about the confidence the club has in me," Read told the club's website.
"Everything is going fast, but I realize how special my current experiences are. I consciously chose to move to Rotterdam almost two years ago and the current developments confirm that my choice was the right one.
"At the same time, I know that I have to keep working hard to continue this trend and for that I will be in the right place at Feyenoord for the coming years."
This renewal could spell bad news for Slot and Liverpool, with Read reported to be on the club’s right-back shortlist.

It was reported last month that Liverpool as well as Manchester United had scouts at a recent Eredivisie game involving Feyenoord in order to check out Read. But the Reds have a key advantage over any Premier League rivals should Feyenoord opt to cash in.
Givairo Read says 'Liverpool and no one else'
Asked to name his favourite team between Manchester City and Man Utd in a recent interview, Read refused and answered Liverpool.
"Liverpool, for sure! Nothing else, no one else," Read said.

For now, the Merseysiders might have to look elsewhere. Read’s future looks reasonably secure in Rotterdam, where he should be able to continue his rapid development over the coming seasons.
