Liverpool have raised their offer for one of their major summer targets. It’s a decision that could finally land them their signing.

Relovo reports that Liverpool have now increased their offer for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The new offer is closer to the £35m asking price, but it may not quite be enough.

The report suggests that Valencia's management could respond with a counteroffer. They're looking to extract every last penny from this transfer and will push Liverpool to their limit.

However, there's no guarantee that Liverpool would play along with that. It's entirely possible that this is their last offer and the final one that Valencia receive.

Mamardashvili wants this accepted, certainly. He's eager to join Liverpool and is willing to make any sort of loan that they require of him.

Because that's the other side of this deal - Liverpool don't have room for Mamardashvili just yet. He will be loaned out, if a transfer does go through, and there's actually a slight possibility that Valencia keep him for a year.

Though, it's made clear that they would almost certainly prefer the extra money rather than reduce the asking price as a 'loan fee'. It'll almost certainly be a third club that takes on Mamardashvili for the upcoming season and maybe longer.

Liverpool push for Giorgi Mamardashvili

This a positive update after reports claimed things had reached a real standstill between Liverpool and Valencia. Hopefully, this deal can move quickly.

Liverpool would be getting one of the world's most promising goalkeepers and if Mamardashvili is in any way a suitable Alisson replacement, £35m will feel like a bargain. But there are doubts about their loan plan.

The 'plan' appears to be for a loan to Bournemouth but Premier League rules appear to suggest that Liverpool wouldn't be able to do that. If that's the case, we wonder what the actual plan is here because Bournemouth's loan fee would supposedly help clinch this deal.

Without it, would Liverpool even push forward for Mamardashvili?
