£30 million signing could LEAVE on loan
The last three transfer windows for Liverpool have seen very little activity.

Only one addition has been made to the playing squad since Arne Slot took charge before the start of the season – Federico Chiesa.

A £30 million deal was also agreed last summer for Giorgi Mamardashvili, although the goalkeeper will not join from Valencia until next summer.
This year of waiting for Mamardashvili to arrive at Anfield has opened the door to plenty of speculation as to what Liverpool’s goalkeeping department will look like next year.
Caoimhin Kelleher looks destined to leave and Alisson’s future isn’t certain, so the question arises – what role will Mamardashvili have next season?
Mamardashvili unlikely to accept ‘number two role’
According to Graeme Bailey, via Rousing the Kop, Liverpool supporters could be facing an even longer wait than first thought to see the Georgian ‘keeper make his debut for the Reds.
“I don’t think that decision has been made yet. I wouldn’t rule out that Alisson starts next season and Mamardashvili might have another season out on-loan,” Bailey said. “I’d be amazed if Mamardashvili would accept the number two role in a World Cup year.”

Liverpool aren’t strangers to loaning out their young talents, with stars such as Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott both having spent time out on loan before breaking into the first team.
“[Liverpool] could loan him out and a team could cover his wages and pay to have him. It’s a no lose situation. I think if Alisson stays then Mamardashvili will get loaned out,” Bailey added.
What will Liverpool’s goalkeeping department look like next season?
There has been some interest in Alisson and it is possible that the Brazilian could be sold this summer.
It is highly unlikely that Kelleher will be willing to remain as the Reds back-up and, with Vitezslav Jaros out of contract at the end of the season, Liverpool would be left without an obvious number two if Mamardashvili did go on loan.
A goalkeeper could be promoted from the academy, maybe Harvey Davies who has been on the bench a number of times for Slot’s side this season.
Liverpool may want a backup with more experience however, and that would mean dipping into the transfer market.

Liverpool supporters will be excited to see Mamardashvili in action at Anfield, even if they do have to wait another season, and a loan move wouldn’t mean the door is shut for the Georgian with the Reds.

If Alisson went, Kelleher is a more than able replacement for the No 1 jersey. He could walk into most teams as an automatic first choice, so why not for Liverpool?
