Liverpool transfer news: Galatasaray prepare AMBITIOUS move for Reds star

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is interesting Galatasaray this summer, according to a recent report from Turkey.

The Scot remains Liverpool's first choice left-back seven years after his Anfield arrival but has struggled with injuries over the past year, missing a chunk of last season with a dislocated shoulder.

A nagging fitness issue has kept him out of pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and there have been suggestions that Liverpool should be searching for his successor in the near future.

In fact, young Argentine defender Julio Soler has been touted as a potential replacement despite his inexperience.

It's not expected that Robertson will leave Liverpool this summer, but that may not stop Galatasaray pursuing the 30-year-old.

GALATASARAY WANT ANDY ROBERTSON

According to Turkish outlet Aspor, Galatasaray have added Robertson to their transfer wishlist this summer, although the report fails to mention whether any discussions or talks have taken place already.

Robertson is not the only left-back interesting the Turkish champions, with recent reports suggesting Aston Villa's Lucas Digne is also under consideration.

Naturally, Robertson will be of interest to a host of clubs given his qualities, but the prospect of a move to Galatasaray is nothing short of absurd.

Liverpool's No.26 is unlikely to leave Anfield this summer, let alone make the move to the Super Lig.

LIVERPOOL'S LEFT-BACK SITUATION

While Galatasaray will not be signing Robertson this summer, Liverpool do have a decision to make on the former Hull City defender moving forward.

Robertson will be 31 by the time next summer comes around and his current contract expires in 2026. At some point, Liverpool will have to identify his heir.

Kostas Tsimikas' future is also uncertain this summer and beyond, with the expectation being that Liverpool will upgrade the Greek defender sooner or later - whether from within or in the transfer market.

While a new left-back signing is extremely unlikely before the current transfer window slams shut, Arne Slot and the recruitment team will need to plan ahead in the coming months.
