Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are among the high-profile names who could depart with Liverpool keen on Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro and Alexander Isak as potential upgrades in the No9 position.

Federico Chiesa, too, could be sold as he contemplates returning to Serie A after only one season on Merseyside.

Another forward whose Liverpool future is undecided is Luis Diaz.

Diaz wants Liverpool renewal

The 28-year-old joined the Reds from Porto back in January 2022 and remains on the SAME contract he signed back then. Given the contract is worth “only” £55,000 per week, Diaz has been agitating for better deal that has so far been unforthcoming.

And with the contract running until 2027, it was suggested that the club could opt to SELL UP rather than let it run and down and lose the Colombian for free.

That stance - selling Diaz - is one now reported to appeal to head coach Arne Slot, who seems to prefer Cody Gakpo on the left wing and who is seeking improvements at centre-forward.

Slot wants Diaz to LEAVE

But now Caught Offside is reporting that Slot is engaged in a civil war with his Liverpool higher-ups who favour giving Diaz a new deal.

“Although Liverpool manager Arne Slot has given the green light for Diaz to leave, it seems the Reds board are keen to keep him,” says the report.

“Despite Diaz seemingly not being a key part of Slot’s plans, it could even be the case that the Liverpool board go over the manager’s head and offer the player a new contract.”

Quite how Slot would feel about that is not yet known and suitors for Diaz are not in short supply.

The report names Arsenal as potentially keen on adding the South American idol in the summer window while Barcelona, Juventus, Al Nassr and Al Hilal may also come forward with bids.

Relations have been smooth between Slot and his employers so far. Let’s see how this one plays out.
