Real Madrid kingpin Florentino Perez wants to reunite Trent Alexander-Arnold with one of his most valuable Liverpool teammates.

It's looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will see at least one of their players lining up for Real Madrid over the next few years. Trent Alexander-Arnold is certainly the most likely.

The Scouser's contract expires at the end of the campaign and there is remarkably little news about a new one. Alexander-Arnold hasn't publicly commented on his contract for months, either - in stark contrast to Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

The big reason for all appears to be Real Madrid. They're heavily linked with a move for Liverpool's vice-captain and have been attempting to turn his head all season.

They may well have done so. We're all simply waiting on the outcome here as Alexander-Arnold picks between the glamour of Real Madrid or his boyhood club to whom he means so much.

But the thing is, Real Madrid don't even intend to stop there. They want to reunite Alexander-Arnold with a Liverpool teammate.

Real Madrid and Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool are struggling to hold onto Ibrahima Konate right now. The Frenchman's contract expires in 2026, meaning he enters the final year this summer.

Anfield Watch exclusively revealed last month that there's an uphill battle to stop Paris Saint-Germain signing the player. He's from Paris, after all, and Konate is almost certainly available this month as things stand.

Liverpool won't want to lose him for nothing in 2026, making him a target this summer. The Reds may feel inclined to sell at a decent price given this is their last chance.

And so here comes Real Madrid. Here's a player coming to the end of his contract, so naturally they'll have a look.

Le Parisien claims Real Madrid are holding an interest in Konate. They're unsure whether a push will actually come but the Daily Mail is pretty adamant that Florentino Perez wants Konate.

They say he's keen on bringing him in, potentially giving Alexander-Arnold the centre-back he's most comfortable with. It's a solid plan, admittedly.

Liverpool, though, will do all they can to stop it happening. They want that to be the right-hand-side of their defence for the foreseeable future.
