Liverpool about to make SHOCK Federico Chiesa decision

Liverpool are on the brink of a shock decision over Federico Chiesa. The Italian only just arrived at Anfield from Juventus.

How quickly can a transfer go badly? Because Federico Chiesa to Liverpool is heading in the wrong direction just a couple of months into his career at Anfield.

The Italian is struggling with injuries - enough so that no one is too sure when he'll be back. Is the intensity too much? Is it just Chiesa?

Either way, it appears Liverpool are nearing the point where they cut their losses. Calciomercato.it now claims that the Reds are open to loaning Chiesa back to Italy in January.

At least, the article suggests they're willing to consider the option. We'll see what comes of it but it appears Liverpool have a massive decision to make very soon.

Liverpool have Chiesa problems

There's still a while to go here, and Calciomercato.it is not the world's most reliable source. Still, there's no question that Liverpool must reconsider their Chiesa plans.

It appears he's not up to the intensity jump from Serie A to the Premier League. Or it could just be that Chiesa isn't up to any intensity right now.

After all, there's a reason Juventus deemed him surplus to requirements and there's a reason he was so damn cheap. Liverpool got a player once worth £100m for a 10th of that.

It was a risk worth taking, at least in most opinions, but a risk nonetheless. January will force Liverpool to weigh up that risk, as well as a new one - is he worth persisting with?

Liverpool's current form, as well as Chiesa's lack of minutes, will push them towards no. His value will continue to drop, after all.

But a short stay back in Italy could perhaps get his fitness back. This is a player who didn't have a pre-season, after all, and that made the intensity kick even harder to contend with.

We don't believe Chiesa is in position to be given up on - yet. But the next couple of months will be very interesting.
