Liverpool Transfer News: Reds tipped to make cut-price deal for Serie A superstar
Liverpool have been tipped to make an offer for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this summer, with the Italian club looking to raise funds.
The 26-year-old, who came to wider public attention as a result of his star turn for Italy in Euro 2020, has been regularly linked with Liverpool, as well as a host of other Premier League clubs, over the years.
After suffering an ACL injury back in 2022, Chiesa has come close to his best form again this season, scoring seven times and registering one assist in 24 matches in Serie A so far in 2023/24.
Despite more regularly featuring on the left, he is often cited on lists of as potential long-term successors for Mohamed Salah.
While the former Fiorentina star remains one of Juventus' most important players, it has been claimed that the Italian giants could look to cash in on their asset amid the need to raise finances for other concerns.
Chiesa's bargain price tag
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini (via TV Play), Liverpool remain 'particularly' interested.
He is quoted as saying: “What does Juventus do? They might sell Chiesa and not [Dusan] Vlahovic as is being rumoured. There are offers on Chiesa from the Premier League bigwigs, particularly Liverpool.
“By selling Chiesa they bring home around €40-45m, with that amount Juventus can go and knock on [Genoa striker Mateo] Retegui’s door, who should not be seen here as a duplicate of Vlahovic, but if anything as his sidekick. Here too, Juventus will have to do, as they say in Milan, the servant’s accounts."
At Santini's prediction, Liverpool might be able to land Chiesa for between £34-38m, a relatively cut-price fee for a player of his reputation.
That price tag is likely due to the fact that the winger's contract is due to expire in 2025, meaning the summer will represent the last real opportunity for Juve to recoup any money on their star.
Along with Liverpool, the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked previously.
