Tottenham may be ready to accelerate their interest in Pedro Neto which could lead to Liverpool missing out.

Fabrizio Romano recently said on a Playback livestream that Pedro Neto is a player “very highly rated by Tottenham” and hinted that they may be ready to accelerate their interest in the 24-year-old.

It has been well documented that Liverpool are in the market for at least one wide forward and potentially a second too.

Pedro Neto is a name that will certainly get many Liverpool fans excited and he is believed to be a long-term target for the Reds.

What does Neto offer?

Neto has been deployed on both wings as well as through the middle throughout his career and has proved a formidable threat from both flanks.

When on the pitch Neto offers excellent dribbling and he is a fine crosser of the ball but many Liverpool fans will be concerned by his torrid injury record.

At 24, Neto has only played just over 150 games of senior football and has missed over half of the season in his last three campaigns.

It is worth noting that Neto would probably not be expected to play every game for Liverpool as he has been expected to at Wolves due to the strong attacking depth in Liverpool’s squad.

How much would Neto cost?

It is believed that Wolves will demand upwards of £60 million for the signature of Neto, a record fee for the west-midlands club.

Tottenham are also heavily interest in former Red Dominic Solanke but Bournemouth are holding out for £65 million.

As well having a sell-on-clause for Solanke that would see Liverpool net 20 per cent of any profit from Solanke’s sale, Tottenham’s acquisition of Solanke could leave the door open for Liverpool to make a move on Neto.

Spurs have already spent big on former Leeds teenager Archie Gray this summer and the arrivals of both Neto and Solanke could be too expensive for the North-London side.

Liverpool are yet to make a signing in this transfer window and, although incomings are reportedly on the way, may need to accelerate their efforts if they don’t want to miss out on targets like Neto.
