Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool have the 'opportunity' to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and loan him out this summer, confirming recent speculation over the Reds' interest in the Georgia star.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mamardashvili in recent days following his exceptional Euro 2024 displays, with the Reds reportedly viewing him as a long-term successor to Alisson.

Previous claims have suggested that Liverpool would look to sign the 23-year-old this summer and then loan him out to a different club for the 2024/25 season to allow him to continue his development.

That loan could well be to another Premier League club, with Bournemouth known to have interest in the Valencia stopper.

With rumours circulating over a potential transfer, Romano has now confirmed that Liverpool are interested in the young goalkeeper and could sign him before the transfer window shuts.

ROMANO CONFIRMS MAMARDASHVILI INTEREST

Speaking on a Playback stream, Romano insisted that Liverpool had been handed the chance to recruit Mamardashvili.

"I can confirm the story. Liverpool have the possibility to sign Mamardashvili and send him on loan," said the Journalist (via GIVEMESPORT).

"So Liverpool have been presented this possibility. Mamardashvili is looking in case there will be some opportunity in the final weeks of the market, and Liverpool have the opportunity to go from Mamardashvili, sign him now and then loan him out.

"Liverpool basically are aware of the opportunity. Liverpool spoke to people in charge of the deal. Liverpool are informed of every detail of this story for Mamardashvili.

"Now it's on Liverpool. They have to decide internally whether they want to pay something around €30m for Mamardashvili, loan him out and consider him the potential future goalkeeper for Liverpool after Alisson, or if they want to leave this opportunity and continue with the goalkeepers they have.

"But Liverpool have this opportunity on the table, so it's basically on Liverpool to decide on."

Liverpool are currently prioritising a deal for defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, although finalising the transfer has proved difficult.

However, after the Reds' pursuit of Zubimendi comes to a conclusion one way or the other, they could well act on their interest in Mamardashvili.
