Fabrizio Romano REVEALS Richard Hughes' January transfer window priorities
Liverpool have been in imperious form this season under Arne Slot with the Dutchman leading the Reds to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League standings.
Remarkably, Slot has managed to do so by using largely the same squad as Jurgen Klopp had last season. Only Federico Chiesa was added to the squad over the summer with the Italian a marginal figure to this point.

Slot has instead set about improving the players already on the books with the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo all finding another gear this season.
That said, Liverpool will require some incoming transfers in the upcoming windows. Midfield was identified as a priority area last summer with Martin Zubimendi linked and now the club are enamored with Porto star Nico Gonzalez.
Up front replacements could be sought for Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota with Joao Pedro and Charles De Ketelaere among the players linked.
Romano: Contracts are the priority
However, fans expecting new arrivals in January might be left disappointed with the latest report from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, the Italian reporter stated that Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes will have another priorities on his plate this winter. Namely the contract renewals of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with all three superstars eligible to talk to potential overseas clubs about a free transfer from January 1.
“In the summer [LFC] will be busy for sure. Liverpool are already monitoring players for the summer. The main focus now is on Trent, Salah and Van Dijk’s contract,” Romano said.
It means Liverpool’s wait for new signings might well go on until next summer. It remains to be seen whether replacements will be required for Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold or whether midfield and attack will be getting a belated upgrade.
