Fabrizio Romano has made Liverpool's plan on Darwin Nunez very clear. The Uruguayan's future is in doubt heading into the summer.

It's now April and the answer to all three is quite clearly 'no'. Nunez has almost entirely fallen out of favour under Slot and his performances in the second half of the campaign, in particular, have been well below par.

Of course, Liverpool did have the chance to move on from Nunez in January. Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that an offer from Saudi Arabia arrived.

Liverpool rejected it, however. They didn't want to lose Nunez for the second half of the campaign, especially with Diogo Jota's fitness concerns.

Not that the Reds completely rejected the offer. They actually asked for more cash but were told no.

But the lack of games for Nunez since January asks a lot of questions about his future once again. Fabrizio Romano has moved to clear them up.

Romano took to Twitter to give an update on Nunez and he's adamant that the Liverpool striker is likely to leave the club this summer.

"The plan is clear since February and it hasn’t changed: Darwin Nunez, expected to leave Liverpool in the summer," wrote Romano.

"After offer turned down by the club in January from Al Nassr, all options will be considered in the upcoming months.

"Darwin, also open to new chapter."

It's what we also believe is the plan at Liverpool. The Reds want to improve their attacking options for Arne Slot's second season and swapping out Nunez for a different striker is at the forefront of that.

They've certainly been linked with options, too. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike arguably lead that particular 'chase', though the former might be prohibitively expensive.

All we know for sure is that Nunez almost certainly leaves the club and it would be a major surprise at this stage for him to remain. In fact, that would be a sign that Liverpool aren't signing a new striker.

But the interest in Nunez is there and Liverpool are ready to do business.
