Even with the emergence of Wataru Endo at centre-back recently, it's clear Liverpool need a long-term solution in a problem area.

The Reds need someone who can come in a be a potential successor to Van Dijk's throne, who isn't getting any younger and even if he stays beyond the current season, he would eventually have to move on.

There has been one player who has been linked with a move recently who could be an ideal option but it seems like he could be on the move elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano confirms transfer update on Loic Bade

Liverpool were linked with a move for Bade only a few days ago by reports in Spain claiming Sevilla would let him go for just €30m and that the Reds were interested in him among several other Premier League sides.

Now it seems like one side has fully entered the race for his signature. Fabrizio Romano took to his social media account on X to confirm that Aston Villa have entered the race for Bade and have started discussions to explore a January move.

There was not a mention of Liverpool in his report and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool enter the market.

At the moment the club are exploring opportunistic moves. Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that Liverpool are advancing in a deal to sign Stefanos Tzimas.

This deal for Bade would also be a very opportunistic deal. He is a player who Liverpool reportedly like and who is reportedly available on the cheap.

Having also played alongside Ibrahima Konate during their academy days in Paris FC, Bade is a player who could also slot in seamlessly having an existing dynamic already with the Reds' French defender.
