Fabrizio Romano backs up our MASSIVE Luis Diaz exclusive
Fabrizio Romano has moved to back up Anfield Watch’s Luis Diaz exclusive. The Colombian's future has been unclear.
Liverpool will have a massive summer. That much is now clear.
Liverpool FC News Recap: Star CONFIRMS he’s staying as Reds ready €60m offer
The Reds may have a title-winning team but this isn't actually Arne Slot's squad. It's a squad built by and for Jurgen Klopp - it's time to give the Dutchman what he needs.
That means signing players who deliberately fit his system. It also means moving on those who don't.
One of the players facing an uncertain future is Luis Diaz, whose form has dropped off massively over the second half of the season. Go back to the first few months and Diaz looked like one of the Reds' best players but he's struggled to maintain that level.
Diaz had five Premier League goals before the end of September but he's only managed five since. His efforts in the Champions League left a lot to be desired, too - his hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen was the only fixture in which he scored in nine attempts.
That drop-off comes at a time when Diaz's contract situation is tense. The Colombian remains on the initial contract he signed when joining Liverpool back in 2022, having never been given improved terms.
That's unusual at Anfield, with the Reds typically rewarding players for good form with a new contract. Diaz has never received such a reward, however, and this summer marks two years from the end of his current deal.
That puts Liverpool in a tricky situation as this is unquestionably the last time that they can extract full value from a transfer fee for Diaz.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool ENTER Hugo Ekitike talks
Luis Diaz to Saudi Arabia?
Anfield Watch revealed back at the start of February that Diaz could leave Liverpool in the summer. More specifically, Sam McGuire wrote that the club expected interest from Saudi Arabia.
Fabrizio Romano has now backed that story up, claiming there is very much interest from the Saudi Pro League in Diaz.
"In January, the player decided to stay at Liverpool and focus on Liverpool's season," Romano said on his YouTube channel. "But now the Saudi clubs are still there for Luis Diaz. The interest is still there. Al-Nassr and not only [them].
"So keep an eye on Luis Diaz because again as we say, it's going to be a very busy summer for Liverpool with many things to decide. And also now Luis Diaz will have to make a decision on what he wants to do in the summer because in Saudi, they will try again."
There's obviously a lot of focus on Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold - rightly so, too. But Diaz's contract situation and form over the second half of the campaign make him a real candidate to move on this summer.

We believe that's the case and Romano clearly does as well. This could be the final couple of months with Diaz in a Liverpool shirt.
