Liverpool Transfer News: €60m midfielder moves one step closer as wonderkid COMPLETES move
Here's all your transfer news for Friday, 27 December.
Liverpool want to sign €95m striker
Sky Germany are reporting Liverpool have logged their interest in PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani.
Kolo Muani is reportedly confirmed to be leaving Paris in this January’s transfer window, with his €95m move from Frankfurt seemingly not working out.
As a result, PSG are allegedly seeking a loan-to-buy option so that the French international is off their books for the rest of the season at a bare minimum.
RB Leipzig are also an interested party if Kolo Muani wants to go back to Germany where he first had success.
After 40 goal involvements in all competitions for Frankfurt back in 2022/23, Kolo Muani’s move to PSG saw him grab 15 last season for PSG.
Liverpool transfer BOOST as €60m midfielder moves one step closer
Nico Gonzalez, the Barcelona academy graduate, is having a stellar season with Porto and has come onto Liverpool’s radar with the consistency of his midfield performances as Anfield Watch revealed exclusively.
The 22-year-old has a buyout clause of €60 million in his Porto contract but one complicating factor has been the presence of Barcelona in the background.
Barca inserted a €30m buyback option in the deal which took him to Portugal, which expires after June 2025. That meant Liverpool - or any other potential suitors - would have been powerless to prevent the Catalans from exercising their right to bring Nico back.
However, according to the latest reports in Sport, the Spanish giants have no intention of re-signing Nico Gonzalez next summer. With cash in short supply, sporting director Deco is content to bet on La Masia graduates like Marc Casado and Pedri in midfield rather than making big-money signings.
CONFIRMED: Liverpool wonderkid target SEALS Premier League deal
Liverpool were reportedly interested in the 18-year-old Turkish defender Yasin Ozcan.
As stated in that report, Ozcan had already become a mainstay in Istanbul-based side Kasimpasa, and he became the youngest defender in Turkish Super Lig history to score back in January 2023 when he was just 16.
It’s not great news for Liverpool, however, as iHA Spor on X, formerly Twitter, are reporting that Aston Villa have secured a deal for Ozcan’s signature.
The deal, expected to be around €8m (£6.6m), will see Ozcan head to the Midlands early in the January transfer window.
Liverpool can use Federico Chiesa as BAIT to line up IRRESISTIBLE Serie A swap deal
Italian teams have been put off by Chiesa’s Liverpool salary however and it’s likely the Reds would have to cover some of the costs even if they let him leave in January. The latest team to be linked with Chiesa is Atalanta.
The Italian table-toppers are said to be conducting “exploratory surveys” on Chiesa with a view to adding him to their squad and rescuing his career. That’s according to L’Eco di Bergamo which states Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have got a loan deal in mind with a view to a permanent move next summer.
And this is where things could get intriguing.
Earlier this week it was reported that Atalanta coach Gasperini believed that it was only a matter of time before Charles De Ketelaere ended up at Anfield. Although no formal negotiations have taken place over the Belgian, Chiesa could end up being a tantalising bait in order to land the 23-year-old forward.
Should Liverpool decide to add the forward to the ranks - perhaps next summer - then they could take the cost down by adding Chiesa to any deal should a loan deal be tied up in January. Then FSG would be able to get an underperforming asset off the books while recruiting one of the coming forces of European football.
