Club boss confirms he is ready to sell star player to Liverpool
It's getting to the end of the January transfer window and one sporting director has opened up about speculations linking his star player to Liverpool.
Both in terms of incoming and outgoings, it's been a relatively quiet window for Richard Hughes.
Liverpool FC News Today: Salah RESPONDS as move made for world class star
The Reds had tried to make moves. As Anfield Watch exclusively reported, they had seriously considered signing Stefanos Tzimas. However, it seems Brighton have won the race for him simply because they are able to guarantee him more playing time on the pitch.
Elsewhere, there could have been major outgoings too.
Anfield Watch exclusively reported that Darwin Nunez was the subject of interest from Al Hilal. In the end though that move has not materialised yet either with the Reds rejecting the Saudi club's first offer.
Sporting director confirms he is ready to sell El Hadji Malick Diouf to Liverpool
But while things have been quiet so far, the last few days could still see a flurry of activity. Especially based on the comments of Slavia Prague's sporting director.
El Hadji Malick Diouf has been a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this month. The Senegalese international is a top prospect and has been one of the stars of this Slavia Prague side, which is why he is also attracting interest from other Premier League sides as well.
Slavia Prague chief Jaroslav Tvrdik has now opened up on the speculation linking his player with a move to Anfield.
In the process of doing so, he has confirmed he would be open to selling Diouf to Liverpool in an interview with Czech outlet, Kudy Bezi Zajic.
"If Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, had come with an offer of around 17-18 million euros, I would have hesitated to approach it differently from the perspective of promoting the club or the player's interest," Tvrdik said.
The Slavia chief then continued:
"If Chelsea comes, we wouldn't keep anyone. Nothing will change, it's just not possible objectively. One has to admit that the Czech league and Slavia have some limits."
"Even PSG, when it comes to breaking the bank, won't keep their player and he'll go to Real. We're part of a football chain and we're not at the top of it."
Those comments definitely seem to open the door for a move to Liverpool for Diouf. Whether the Reds do try to sign him remains to be seen.
