Frankfurt take MASSIVE next step towards agreeing Hugo Ekitike deal

Liverpool have been tipped as suitors for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in the upcoming transfer window. The 22-year-old Frenchman has been on the radar at Anfield since 2022, when he first left Reims to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Ekitike’s career suffered a setback in the French capital but he has worked hard to rehabilitate his career in the Bundesliga.

This season he’s scored 21 goals and added nine assists in 42 games across all competitions, sparking an impending clamour for his signature.

Frankfurt are VERY well protected contract-wise with Ekitike signed up until 2029. Accordingly, the Europa League hopefuls are optimistic of making Ekitike their first-ever €100 million player in the event that he’s sold.

And now it can be revealed that the club have been making plans to LOSE Ekitike this summer with the news that they are in talks with another high-profile frontman ahead of the window opening.

Frankfurt open talks with Fabio Silva

Like Ekitike, Fabio Silva has faced a struggle to get his career back on track after big-money move but has found his form on loan at Las Palmas this season.

The 22-year-old is under contract until 2026 with Wolves, who he joined from Porto in a £35m club-record deal back in 2020. He's scored 10 goals and added three assists in the Spanish top flight this term.

Now Florian Plettenberg, a Sky Germany reporter, has detailed that informal talks have taken place between Portugal international Silva and Frankfurt.

“Eintracht Frankfurt have added Fábio Silva to their shortlist!,” he wrote on X. “Initial talks have already taken place. The club have gathered all relevant information and consider the Portuguese striker a very interesting option.

“The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Las Palmas until the end of the season and remains under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers until 2026.

"Ten goals and three assists in LaLiga. Other top clubs are also showing interest – definitely one to watch.”

Frankfurt have had an amazing hit rate on strikers in recent seasons.

The likes of Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush, Luka Jovic and Sebastian Haller all enjoyed rich runs of goalscoring form at the club before earning mammoth transfer fees when Frankfurt were ready to sell.

That looks the most likely option for Liverpool target forward Ekitike this summer and Frankfurt will no doubt be hopeful of continuing the trend with Fabio Silva.
