But the truth is that while this has been an exciting start, the real Slot era is only just about to begin.

At this moment in time, Slot has pretty much been working with the same squad that he inherited from Jurgen Klopp. This was a calculated decision.

The Dutchman wanted to assess his options before running his judgement on them and he's now had an entire year to take a good look at them.

Inevitably, this means that in the upcoming summer transfer window Hughes and Slot will be more active on the market as the Liverpool head coach looks to make his own imprint on the team.

That will mean some players who have spent years at Liverpool leaving for pastures new. It will also mean new exciting young players coming to Anfield.

Liverpool ready to move for Eberechi Eze amid £60m agreement

One position that could see a bit of a shake-up is the midfield department. Liverpool already wanted to invest in a new midfielder last summer.

At the time, a deal for Martin Zubimendi could not be reached. But this time around things could be different. Slot has decided to use Dominik Szoboszlai in the no.10 role this season, pushing him a lot higher than the Hungarian is used to playing previously.

It's a role Szoboszlai has fulfilled and done really well in but there is still a question mark about whether he would be better off playing deeper, using his brilliant energy as a box-to-box midfielder.

At the same time, allowing Slot to promote a more natural no.10 who is capable of scoring goals on a regular basis to Szoboszlai's current role.

This player could be Eberechi Eze, with Caught Offside reporting that Liverpool and Arsenal are both closing in on making a decision to sign the England international.

The two sides are thought to be his main suitors with both ready to make an attempt to buy him from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to the report, Eze has already struck an agreement with Palace that he can leave the club for £60m, which is the release clause inserted into his contract.

Eze would be an ideal option. He has 15 goal contributions in all competitions this season and struck 17 goal contributions last season.

At 26-years-old, he has just entered his prime years and scored his first England senior goal against Latvia last month.

The fact that he is homegrown is a huge pull for Liverpool as well because the chances are the Reds could be losing a lot of homegrown talent this summer.

From Tyler Morton to potentially the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah and many more.

Eze would be a smart fit. He's someone who thrives in those half spaces made for a no.10 in Slot's system and he is efficient in front of goal both when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net and creating chances for his teammates.
