Liverpool transfers: Star forward linked with SHOCK move

Liverpool's attack could be in line for a new superstar as the club have been linked with one of the Premier League's standout players from last season.

While Liverpool's attack is one of the strongest parts of the squad, reinforcements will be required in the coming years with Luis Diaz linked with a move to Barcelona and uncertainty over the future of Mohamed Salah ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of left-sided attackers during the transfer window, with Anthony Gordon and, more recently, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both touted as potential signings.

Another name has now been added to the list, with The Independent's Reading the Game newsletter stating that Crystal Palace are worried about losing Ebere Eze before the end of the window.

Both Liverpool and title rivals Manchester City have been named as potential destinations for Eze, who was one of the best attackers in the second half of last season.

"With Eze, Palace are bracing themselves for bids from Liverpool or Manchester City. That has been said for weeks, however, as other clubs have complained the asking price is 'crazy'. Arsenal were one of those put off," the newsletter, written by prominent journalist Miguel Delaney, says.

WHERE WOULD EZE PLAY AT LIVERPOOL?

Eze plays mainly from the left for current club Crystal Palace, and also featured there for England during EURO 2024 earlier this summer.

However, as the focal point for Palace's attack under Oliver Glasner, he has the license to roam infield and causes havoc for opposition sides with his direct dribbling and quick feet.

This means he could suit Arne Slot's side playing as a left-sided attacker or in a number 10 role – however, there is plenty of competition in both positions as Diaz, Gakpo, Elliot and Jota are all currently vying for starting spots.

Despite Palace losing their opening two games of the season, Eze has been their standout performer, and almost had an early contender for goal of the season with a free kick against Brentford that was cruelly ruled out after the referee blew his whistle  before the ball went into the goal.

While almost all of Liverpool's free kicks are taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold, it wouldn't hurt to have a second option to keep opposition goalkeepers guessing!
