If no new deal is forthcoming then the Egyptian King will need to be replaced as a top priority by sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot.

Liverpool Transfer News: Surprise at Anfield as RIDICULOUS Chelsea offer steals wonderkid

And even if Salah stays, he will be 33 by the time next season kicks off and Liverpool will be in need of a successor sooner rather than later.

One name on the radar for an Anfield arrival as a potential replacement for Salah could cause trouble for Dominik Szoboszlai however.

Szoboszlai feuds with Arda Guler

The Reds’ midfielder is captain of his national team Hungary, and had an awkward international window. The Magyars were beaten handily by Turkey over two legs in their UEFA Nations League relegation playoff.

Turkey won 3-1 in the first leg at home in Istanbul before completing a facile 3-0 victory in Budapest. However the second game was notable for the spat which took place between Szoboszlai and reported Liverpool transfer target Arda Guler.

The Real Madrid winger / attacking midfielder scored in the second leg and during the contest he squared up to Szoboszlai.

A Hungarian newspaper published the image of the two players confronting one another on its Instagram page, prompting Szoboszlai to comment ‘1088’ underneath.

The figure was taken to reflect the number of minutes Guler had earned for Madrid until that point of the season and was quickly deleted by Szoboszlai.

However, Guler was provoked into making a post of his own, joking at Szoboszlai’s expense. "This guy is a joke. Isn't six goals enough to shut you up?" he asked.

Liverpool 'monitoring' Arda Guler

And now Caught Offside is reporting that the two could be set for an award summer reunion.

Guler, 20, has since improved his minutes count - adding assists against Leganes in the league and Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey - but is still well down the pecking order for Carlo Ancelotti when he’s got his full complement.

It’s been suggested that the former Fenerbahce talent could therefore be made available for transfer.

“Sources with a close understanding of Guler’s situation have informed CaughtOffside that Liverpool are among the teams monitoring him as a potential transfer target,” a report reads.

"CaughtOffside have also been told that Aston Villa have a strong interest in Guler, with director Monchi also publicly expressing his admiration for him recently.

“Other interested clubs include Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Sevilla and Real Sociedad.”

Given Guler’s immense talent, it’s no surprise so many top teams around the continent are queuing up for his signature.

A roving, creative presence, Liverpool could do a lot worse than test Madrid’s resolve for the player, whose contract expires in 2029. Let’s hope Dom and his potential new teammate can put their beef behind them if that happens.
