Liverpool £15m-rated transfer target AGREES deal
A Premier League club has struck a £15m verbal deal that takes another Liverpool transfer target off the table. Dean Huijsen is heading to Bournemouth.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Dean Huijsen is off to Bournemouth. The Cherries have struck a £15m deal with Juventus to sign him, with a sell-on clause tacked on.
This one's still subject to medical tests but Huijsen has agreed to a long-term deal with Bournemouth. This one seems all but wrapped up, as Juventus turns to Jean-Clair Todibo as a replacement.
"Dean Huijsen to Bournemouth, here we go!” writes Romano on X. "Verbal agreement in place on €18m deal plus sell-on clause for Juventus.
"Huijsen has agreed on long-term deal at Bournemouth with medical tests to follow.
"Juventus plan to bid for Jean Clair Todibo as soon as Huijsen deal is signed."
So why is this relevant to Liverpool? The Reds have been linked with Huijsen all year long - Football Insider were banging the drum this week, in fact.
But you can find links dating back to March when Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Liverpool wanted Huijsen. The talented defender is supposedly one that the club have been watching.
Dean Huijsen off the table
We did think it was unlikely that Liverpool would make a move for Huijsen now. If they're going to hand minutes to a young defender next season, it'll be Jarell Quansah, who appears to have all the potential in the world.
Huijsen would have been a similar player - someone looking to kick on after a breakthrough season. It's just not what Liverpool need right now.
But if Huijsen impresses at Bournemouth? Liverpool may feel more confident about spending far above £15m for him once he's proven himself in the Premier League.
So while this takes Huijsen off the table for this summer, it might end up improving the chances of Liverpool signing him down the line.
