David Ornstein believes it's not a foregone conclusion that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 campaign amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The Egyptian winger will enter the last year of his contract this summer and continues to attract interest from the Middle East, with Al-Ittihad still firmly interested in snapping him after failing to sign him last summer. In a Q&A session with The Athletic, Ornstein poured cold water over claims that Salah's future is decided, adding that Liverpool have a 'good chance' of retaining the 31-year-old beyond the end of the season.

He said (quotes via TBR Football): “I have no firm/fresh info on this, but to my knowledge, it definitely is not a foregone conclusion, and if any agreements have been struck they are either informal or have been kept secret. It was suggested to me some weeks ago – as mentioned in a previous Q&A – that Salah is still keen to compete at the top level beyond this season and that there was a good chance he stays longer at Liverpool.

“But we haven’t heard anything about contract talks (I think Liverpool are planning to start addressing these situations in the new year) and come July he’ll have only 12 months left on his terms. The Saudi Pro League was never expected to reignite its pursuit of Salah in January but unless Liverpool get something sorted in the next few months it would be no surprise to see another big push next summer.”

Salah is undoubtedly Liverpool's main man up front and has been in scintillating form this season, racking up 15 goals and seven assists across 24 appearances in all competitions. Despite entering his 30s, the Egyptian maestro has shown no signs of slowing down, so Liverpool would be best advised to resist offers for their star man if clubs come calling for him again this summer.
