Darwin Nunez eyes HUGE Barcelona transfer move as deadline day approaches
The arrival of Arne Slot at Liverpool marked the start of a new era at Anfield, and the Dutchman’s impact is clear for all to see.

Although this season has seen a number of Liverpool players take their game to the next level, not everyone has thrived under the Reds’ new regime.

For some, injury has hampered the number of opportunities available this campaign, with Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota prime examples.
For Darwin Nunez however, fitness hasn’t really been an issue, and the Uruguayan has still failed to make a lasting impression under Slot.
Nunez eyes move away from Anfield
As revelaed by Anfield Watch, Nunez was the subject of a bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal earlier in the January window, but Liverpool were not ready to move on from their chaotic no.9 for any less than their asking price - £85 million.
Now, according to a report from El Nacional, Barcelona are interested in bringing the 25-year-old forward to the Camp Nou, and Nunez has already made up his mind on the move.
The report states that Nunez is one of a number of targets currently being assessed by Barca to eventually replace Robert Lewandowski, but that the former Benfica star is a prime candidate due to his size and physicality.
Although the finances of the deal would be hard to agree and the move is being targeted for the summer, Nunez would 'welcome the possibility' of joining Barca according to EL Nacional, as the forward is “motivated by the idea of playing for a club with such a great history and a playing system that could enhance his qualities.”
Could Nunez’s time at Liverpool be coming to an end?
Nunez has been a fan favourite since his arrival at Anfield in 2022, instantly endearing himself to supporters with a goal and extravagant celebration on his debut in the Community Shield.
Since then, the 25-year-old has struggled to find consistent form, often frustrating the Anfield faithful by missing multiple clear-cut chances.
A number of injury time winners have made a case that the Uruguayan still has more to offer for the Reds, but his six goals from 30 appearances this campaign won’t be enough to secure the forward’s long-term future.
Barcelona could well be the next destination for Darwin Nunez, but Liverpool supporters will want their no.9 to remain focussed for the rest of the season, and hopefully help the Reds get across the line in the Premier League title race.
