Liverpool have made a final decision. They’ve told one first-team star that he will be sold this summer.

Liverpool will move on several players this summer, despite the fact they’ve just won the Premier League title. The Reds confirmed themselves as champions on Sunday with a 5-1 win at Anfield over Tottenham Hotspur.

Most clubs would sit back comfortably, knowing they’ve got the best squad in the land and relishing it. That’s absolutely not Liverpool’s mentality in 2025.

They feel there’s a lot more to come from the squad, especially if it’s retooled to suit Arne Slot’s style of play. This group, after all, was signed for Jurgen Klopp and his own brand of football.

What Slot has done with them, then, is remarkable but it won’t stop here. Liverpool will bring players in, send players out, and rebuild on top of a strong core.

It means some big decisions must be made. One of those is what to do up front, with Liverpool wanting to bring in a new centre-forward this summer.

Liverpool to move on from Darwin Nunez

It has long been rumoured that Liverpool want to move on from Darwin Nunez once this season is done. The Uruguayan hasn't managed to fit in under Slot and while many of his performances have been great, he's simply not a consistent player under the Dutchman.

Not that he was much more consistent under Klopp, of course.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Liverpool have now formally told Nunez that he will leave the club this summer. The report comes on the back of interest from Atletico Madrid, who will try to sign him.

That won't be easy, however. There's intense interest from Saudi Arabia and Liverpool did receive an offer back in January, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch.

The Reds rejected that bid because they didn't want to lose a first-team player mid-season. Nunez was on board with leaving, though, and the bid is expected to return post-season.

Liverpool fully intend to accept it. Whether Atletico Madrid can sway Nunez to reject the money and move back to Spain is another thing entirely - the point is that he'll leave Anfield, even if the destination isn't 100 per cent clear just yet.

Enjoy these last four games, then. This will be the end of Nunez at Liverpool. That much is now certain.
