Atletico Madrid HINT at Julian Alvarez sale
Liverpool’s search for a new striker this summer is no secret.
The Reds have been linked with a number of viable options, but there are a lot of moving parts in play.

In order for Liverpool to recruit an elite level forward, at least on of Arne Slot’s current forward options will likely have to leave the club.
A number of high-profile exits are expected, with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota among those who could depart, as exclusive revealed by Anfield Watch.
There is reportedly plenty of interest in all three of these stars, but it is one rumour concerning Nunez that hints at who Liverpool’s next no.9 could be.
There could be more to Atletico Madrid’s interest in Darwin Nunez
One of the sides linked with Liverpool’s enigmatic Uruguayan front-man is Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
It had been believed that Antoine Griezmann being offered a new contract at the Metropolitano could lead to Atletico’s interest being cooled, but the latest reports suggest that the Spanish side remain interested.

Adding Nunez and keeping Griezmann would leave the side with a surplus of players up top, so Atleti’s interest could hint at a departure for Liverpool linked Julian Alvarez.
The Reds have held an interest in the World Cup winner since his time at Manchester City, and Nunez could even be used as part of a swap deal that would see Alvarez end up at Anfield.
Would Julian Alvarez be a good fit for Liverpool?
With 26 goals and five assists in 49 appearances this season, it is clear to see why Alvarez has caught Liverpool’s eye.
The 25-year-old has thrived under the responsibility of being Atleti’s main man, and a Premier League return would make perfect sense.
Alvarez is likely to command a high fee, but most of the Reds’ striker targets will, and Atletico Madrid’s interest in Nunez presents the unique opportunity to include one of Liverpool’s own in the deal.
Even if Nunez does not end up in Madrid, the fact Simeone’s side are still actively pursuing strikers could mean that the club are open to the idea of Alvarez departing this summer, after only one season in Spain.

Nunez’s days at Anfield look numbered, and even if Alvarez doesn’t end up as his eventual replacement the door appears to be open for Liverpool to make an approach.
