Liverpool line up TWO wonderkids to replace Darwin Nunez
Liverpool are on course for a risky but bold transfer plan with Darwin Nunez.
Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool are open to moving Darwin Nunez on in 2025. In fact, they're technically open to it this month if anyone meets their incredible asking price.
EXCLUSIVE: Darwin Nunez receives INSANE contract offer
Now, it's not entirely clear how realistic that is. Al-Hilal do want Nunez but who knows exactly what they'll be willing to pay?
Saudi Pro League teams aren't the most predictable in the world and it could well be that they pay up. But even if they don't, the writing is on the wall for Nunez.
He hasn't been the success Liverpool hoped for. His style of football isn't quite suited to Arne Slot's team, either - and certainly less than it was to Jurgen Klopp's.
Of course, it remains true that if he was a more reliable finisher, Nunez would play for any team in the world. Unfortunately, we're at the point where no one really expects that level of clinical finishing to arrive.
And so we expect Liverpool to at least try to move Nunez on for a good price in the summer, if not now. That's almost certainly why the Reds are building for the future, too - and it's an exciting one.
Liverpool's wonderkid plan
As Anfield Watch exclusively revealed on Sunday, Liverpool are willing to pay around £25m to sign Stefanos Tzimas. They'd be up for paying that this month, too, but that might need Nunez to move on.
Tzimas, though, would be a replacement. He's much younger (still 19) and a different profile to Nunez. He's also easier to rotate in and out of the lineup at this stage in his career.
But he won't be the only kid Liverpool hope to replace Nunez with. There's also a lot of hype and a lot of hope around Jayden Danns.
Danns came off the bench to score against Accrington Stanley on Saturday, of course. The teenager now boasts a remarkable record for the Liverpool senior team
Danns certainly appears to have a very bright future. Combine him with Tzimas and Liverpool boast a very bright future.
We've seen how Arne Slot has developed players rapidly when they 'get' his system. Danns showed he can adapt to it in rapid time this weekend, while there's brilliant hope that Tzimas is the perfect profile going forward.
And Liverpool are being smart by doubling up. Maybe one of the two young forwards doesn't develop as hoped - but by double-dipping, the Reds make it a lot more likely that they find their star forward.
And who knows? Maybe both become stars.
