Liverpool could replace BOTH Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota at £100m profit
Liverpool have the chance to replace both of their strikers and land an enormous profit in doing so. Can Richard Hughes make it happen?
Liverpool will attempt to move on from their strikers this summer and try something very new. Neither Darwin Nunez nor Diogo Jota have proven to be up to scratch under Arne Slot.

Nunez just hasn't been good enough in front of goal. Just about everything else he does well (though, there have been work-rate concerns over the second half of the season) but a lack of goalscoring quality is a death knell for any no.9.
Jota does have that finishing quality. He just can't remain fit, playing around one-third of Liverpool's total Premier League minutes this season.
It just hasn't been good enough and the Reds want to make sure Slot has a strikeforce that works for him. That means dipping into the transfer market this summer.
But it also means potential exits. There's significant interest in Nunez from Saudi Arabia and the Uruguayan had an offer in January, though Liverpool rejected it.
Anfield Watch understands that offer will almost certainly come back this summer and the Reds hope to bag around £80m for Nunez. Jota, too, could be off with plenty of interest in him.
Empire of the Kop claims the Reds want just shy of £50m for the Portugal forward. Teams are considering it.

Liverpool's budget replacements
This all sets up a scenario where Liverpool could conceivably replace the pair and bank a £100m profit. Or certainly very close to that mark.
Selling Nunez and Jota would bring in around £130m at Liverpool's current asking prices. There are then a pair of strikers available for £30m upfront.
Liam Delap is one of those. The Ipswich Town striker has been brilliant this season and has a release clause in his contract should the team be relegated this season.
They almost certainly will be, of course, allowing Delap to leave for £30m. Liverpool are said to be interested in the player and considering a move.
Then there's Jonathan David. The Lille forward has had long-term admiration from Liverpool, with the Reds having considered him as an option back when they signed Jota in 2020.
He was too raw back then and instead he went to Lille and won Ligue 1. David has developed into a really solid forward in the last five years - 57 league goals and counting over the last three seasons.
David is also available for free this summer as his contract in France expires. Liverpool do retain an interest.
Now, we'll also say that we don't believe this is the best option for Liverpool. Hugo Ekitike makes more sense than this budget option and arguably spending £130m on Alexander Isak does, too.
But it is an option for Liverpool at a time when they must rebuild a large chunk of the squad. They're after a winger, full-backs on each side and a centre-back this summer. None of that comes cheap.
Well, here's an option that makes it all a lot easier. Delap and David are two very, very talented strikers who could move Liverpool up a level.

That's partly through that talent but also through the flexibility they afford the Reds in other moves this summer.
