Liverpool give biggest signal yet that star is LEAVING
We've had the biggest signal yet that Liverpool are to let one star leave the club this summer. Time to say goodbye.
Liverpool are lining up to say goodbye to several first-team stars in 2025. There's an overhaul of sorts on the way, with the Reds hoping to refresh a title-winning squad.

Because while this is a title-winning squad, it's far from perfect. This isn't Arne Slot's squad, for one thing - this is one built for Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds didn't sign anyone for the first time last summer beyond Federico Chiesa and he's barely featured. Slot, plainly not a fan, has barely given him 30 Premier League minutes across the entire season.
But this summer, Liverpool want to make strong changes and that means some tough decisions. Trent Alexander-Arnold is on course to force some of those as he potentially leaves on a free transfer for Real Madrid.
Then there are question marks at centre-back and left-back, too. But it's the forward line where the most interesting questions arrive.
One of those hangs over Darwin Nunez, who could have left in January for Saudi Arabia. Liverpool rejected an offer but that offer is expected to return once the season comes to a close.
And we've had the biggest signal yet that the Reds will accept it.

Darwin Nunez to leave Liverpool
The was reportedly a clause in Nunez's transfer from Benfica to Liverpool that triggered payments everytime he hit a milestone for starts. This only mattered for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League but once he hit 10 starts collectively in those competitions, the Reds paid €5m to Benfica.
The same thing happened once he'd made another 25 starts and is due to happen again 25 starts after that. Only, he's sitting on 24 starts since the last payment.
This is according to A Bola, who make it clear that this is why Nunez hasn't been starting for Liverpool. They're right, too - the Uruguayan has just one Premier League start and one Champions League start in 2025.
Now, this does make sense - Liverpool don't want to pay €5m that they don't have to. But it only makes sense if Nunez is leaving this summer.
Otherwise, the Reds would be suggesting that he might not make a single start next season. That's simply not possible if he remains on Merseyside.
Instead, Liverpool just need to see out the next month and they've avoided the payment. It's the single biggest sign yet that they intend to sell Nunez once the campaign is over.

Of course, Nunez looks destined for the exit door regardless but this is about as clear a statement as you could hope for. This will almost certainly be his final month with the Reds - enjoy what's left of it.
