Confirmed: Liverpool are one of three Premier League teams interested in Hugo Ekitike
Liverpool are interested in signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Here's the latest.
Liverpool are on the hunt for a new striker this summer and Hugo Ekitike is on their shortlist. This has now been confirmed by a source close to the player.
Liverpool Transfer News Today: Reds prepare RECORD bid as star is READY to join
The Reds want to move on from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, who currently hold down the centre-forward role. The pair of them have proven themselves to be unreliable.
Nunez simply can't score with any regularity and it's proven a real problem at times this season. On top of that, Arne Slot has questioned his work-rate - something previously thought to be a given with the Uruguayan.
Diogo Jota has a different problem - he can't remain fit. Jota has played around one-third of Liverpool's Premier League minutes this season and even if he can finish well, he's simply not around enough to be the Reds' main man up top.
That's where the summer comes in - and potentially Ekitike.

Hugo Ekitike wanted by Liverpool
A source close to the player has told Anfield Sector that Liverpool are pushing to sign Ekitike from Frankfurt. There are 'at least' three Premier League clubs with strong interest in the Frenchman and the Reds are '1000%' one of them.
Initial talks with his camp have taken place and those behind the scenes at Liverpool really like the profile Ekitike offers. He's up for a move to the Premier League, too, though that's no great surprise.
Liverpool are apparently taking into account the fact that Ekitike would cost a fraction of Alexander Isak's fee. The Swede remains a target for them - but Ekitike is going to go for far, far cheaper.
This is the situation, then. Liverpool like the look of Ekitike and while they're not alone in that, they'll fancy their chances of landing him.

It's worth mentioning that Newcastle United have been heavily linked with him, too, but only in the instance that Isak departs. We imagine it's really only two parties interested, then, as the Magpies' interest only becomes real if Liverpool sign their star striker.
The Reds have a massive decision to make here, then. It's one that will shape their foreseeable future as they look for a new star to build their attack around.

Ekitike could well be that player and with the money saved on Isak, who's to say the spending would stop there?
