That's something he hasn't had at Anfield. Slot has worked with Jurgen Klopp's forwards, essentially, with only Federico Chiesa added to the group.

Chiesa, though, has barely featured. Slot has used him for around 30 Premier League minutes this season - a staggeringly low amount for a player as accomplished as the Italian.

And so Richard Hughes is tasked with finding top players to step in and improve on this title-winning squad. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike have been named, along with the likes of Florian Wirtz and Xavi Simons.

But is there an option closer to home? Cole Palmer has been linked with Liverpool in what would be one of the biggest transfers of the year.

Cole Palmer to Liverpool

Chelsea reporter Simon Phillips claims Liverpool are one of two clubs to have enquired about Cole Palmer ahead of the summer. The other, unsurprisingly, is Manchester City - the club that sold Palmer to Chelsea.

Now, Phillips makes it clear that he's not saying this is a move that could happen. But it appears that both Liverpool and City see Palmer possibly moving in the summer.

At the very least, there's a chance that something could happen at the right price. With that in mind, it's no surprise that Liverpool are asking questions.

Palmer's form has certainly dropped off over the second half of the season but that doesn't change the fact that his debut 18 months with the Blues was sensational. He was comfortably one of the very best players in the Premier League and one who produced true magic to win games.

Liverpool do want to sign a player capable of those moments. Mo Salah has done it to a ridiculous degree this season but it would certainly be nice to have a second, let alone someone to take up the mantle post-Salah.

Palmer fits the bill and we imagine the possibility of him leaving becomes a little more likely if Chelsea do miss out on UEFA Champions League football again. They're in the race but their poor form makes things difficult in the run-in.

Overall, we think Palmer would be incredibly expensive and we're not sure Liverpool will make it happen. Too many moving parts need to click into the right place in order for a deal to materialise.

At the same time, we'll be watching closely. A poor end to the season for Chelsea opens the door and Liverpool might just be able to make something happen.
