After a difficult start to life under his compatriot, the 25-year-old found form at the start of November and scored eight goals and provided three assists in 15 matches before picking up an injury in February.

In what looks set to be a summer full of change and high-profile transfers, Gakpo is one of the few Reds who hasn’t been consistently linked with a move away.

That has all changed following the latest report, which have linked the Dutch forward with a massive transfer this summer.

Bayern Munich want Cody Gakpo

According to a report from Fichajes, Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are preparing a huge offer for Gakpo – who has become the club’s ‘top priority’.

The report claims that Bayern have tabled an offer of €90 million (roughly £75m) but does not say how Liverpool have responded to the offer.

As exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch earlier this year, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are all expected to depart this summer as part of an attacking overhaul.

Mohamed Salah also has less then four months remaining on his contract and could well leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Up until now there has been very little indication that Gakpo could leave too, but such a big bid may be enough for Richard Hughes to sanction a sale.

What should Liverpool do with Gakpo?

Assuming that all those expected to leave Liverpool do depart, and Salah doesn’t sign a new contract, Gakpo and Federico Chiesa would be the club’s only two remaining senior attackers.

There have been plenty of question marks over Chiesa’s future this season and the sale of Gakpo could represent a complete clear out of the Reds’ attackers. Slot would have a complete reset.

Although the funds from Gakpo’s sale would bolster Liverpool’s transfer kitty, it would leave the Reds in massive need of reinforcements, and it feels very risky to move on all your current attackers in one summer.

If Bayern’s bid is genuine, and Liverpool do sanction a sale, it is unlikely that the Reds would move on the rest of their attackers too.

With so much uncertainty already surround the club’s front-line as the season draws to a close, supporters may be worried that Gakpo – who has proven himself under Slot – could also be on his way out of Merseyside this summer.
