Liverpool Transfer News: Club set to pursue 'dream' move for winger
It is fair to say that Federico Chiesa hasn’t exactly had the ideal start to his career on Merseyside.
An injury-riddled spell so far has seen him appear only four times for the Reds totalling 167 minutes.

But he did finally manage to score his first goal since coming to England against Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup today, a 25-yard low drive off the inside of the post to make it 4-0.
It was a reminder that, despite frustrations with the transfer so far, there is a reason Liverpool chose to bring him to the club.
But his future remains uncertain with constant rumours that he may be looking for a move back to Italy to rejuvenate his career. Links to both Milan clubs emerged, as did those to Antonio Conte’s Napoli.
And with superstar winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia seemingly about the depart the club, those rumours are only getting stronger.
A new report by Sport Witness, relaying the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, says that “Napoli want to ‘understand what intentions’ Liverpool have with Chiesa, and are tempted to contact the Merseyside club to find out exactly that.”
The report goes on to say that “Signing Chiesa would be something of a dream move for Napoli, and one they may pursue in the coming days.”
Framing Chiesa as a “dream move” for the Italian side certainly moves the dial on the likelihood of this deal emerging. It presents a current outcast at Liverpool as an asset that they can still get a prize deal on.
Particularly if this deal were to come as part of a larger deal for Kvaratskhelia - or perhaps a pre-agreement for Victor Osimhen, to whom Anfield Watch exclusively revealed Liverpool’s interest in this week.
Any call from Napoli should certainly be explored as Chiesa is contributing little-to-nothing to Liverpool right now.
However, if Chiesa is able to put together a run of games then he could still be a serious contributor in a season where Liverpool will need every player they can get their hands on.
