Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Italy star Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

With only a few days remaining until the transfer window slams shut in England, Liverpool are finally starting to accelerate moves in the transfer market.

It was announced last night that Giorgi Mamardashvili will join the Reds in 2025 and now it looks as though Liverpool are set to make another signing before the window closes.

Liverpool have been interested in signing a wide forward this summer, with interest previously reported in Anthony Gordon of Newcastle, but it appears they have now found their man in Federico Chiesa according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Chiesa open to Liverpool move

Chiesa currently plays for Juventus and has won 51 caps for Italy. The 26-year-old moved to the Italian giants on loan from Fiorentina in 2020 before the deal was made permanent in 2022.

Chiesa made 37 appearances for Juventus last season after struggling with injuries following a cruciate ligament tear in 2022.

Liverpool’s interest in Chiesa was revealed earlier this week by Fabrizio Romano, who has since confirmed that Liverpool are the only club to make formal contact with Juventus for the signing of Chiesa, and that Chiesa would be super keen on the move, despite Spanish sources suggesting otherwise.

How likely is a deal?

Liverpool will take confidence from the fact that Juve have already announced the signing of a player in Chiesa’s position.

The small fee, a reported €15 million, will also give Liverpool confidence that a deal can be done quickly.

At 26 the player still has his best years ahead of him and he put up some impressive numbers with Italy at the Euros, despite exiting in the round of 16.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are ready to offer Chiesa a four year deal at Anfield in a move that would add depth to a front line that already contains stars like Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez.

If any move is to be made it will have to be completed by 11pm on Friday as this is when the Premier League transfer window shuts, leaving Liverpool in a race against time to sign the Italian.
