'Really enjoyable' start under Arne Slot WON'T stop Caoimhin Kelleher leaving Liverpool

Liverpool are still expected to sell Caoimhin Kelleher despite his ‘really enjoyable’ start to life under Arne Slot.

The Mirror makes it clear that Caoimhin Kelleher is still expected to leave Liverpool this summer. Talk on that front has gone a bit quiet, with the Irishman recently talking about how much he's enjoying life under Arne Slot.

“[Slot] has been excellent so far," he told LFCTV. "A lot of detail to what he wants us to do, there’s a lot of stuff to take onboard but he gets his messages across really well and easy to understand as well, which is helpful. His sessions are intense and he pushes us, which is always good.

“It has been really enjoyable so far, I must say.”

But the Mirror claims Kelleher will still depart Anfield as he seeks first-team football. The 25-year-old hasn't exactly kept it a secret that he wants that - the bigger doubt is whether another club will pay Liverpool's asking price.

The Reds won't let Kelleher leave on the cheap and still value him as a key part of their squad. The player, though, knows he's running out of time to have the career he dreams of.

Caoimhin Kelleher's summer

Kelleher is now 25 and with Alisson Becker showing no signs of slowing down, his chances of earning a starting role at Liverpool within the next two or three years seem slim. He's essentially looking at being around the age of 30 before having a genuine shot at being a no.1.

And that's not going to be what Kelleher wants out of his career. No one would begrudge him a move this summer, but the Reds want to make sure they get proper value for him.

Of course, that value is debatable. Kelleher would want to head somewhere where he'll be a starting goalkeeper but as he's never actually been that for a full season, will anyone realistically pay £25m for him?

That remains to be seen but it appears that even after enjoying his start under Slot, Kelleher is hoping to find a club that will give him the chance he craves.
