NAMED: The 5 first-team Liverpool stars Richard Hughes is ready to sell
Liverpool are bracing themselves for a major overhaul this summer. Five potential sales have been named already.
Liverpool had a relatively quiet summer in 2024 but that certainly won't be the case in 2025. Richard Hughes and his team will attempt to restructure Arne Slot's squad - and it could be quite dramatic.

Of course, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the big ones. That trio are all out of contract once the season is done and as things stand, they'll be leaving for free.
It's a situation that's rumbled on all season. Now it will be coming to a head and everyone has some gigantic decisions to make.
But those are simply the decisions forced on Liverpool. The Reds have big plans beyond that, with Anfield Watch understanding that a major overhaul of the attacking options will happen.
That's not even all, though. Ibrahima Konate's contract situation makes things messy - he's entering the final year of his deal.

He's far from the only one entering that final year, though. Liverpool need to decide whether those players are sold for cash ASAP or allowed to depart for free.
Or have their contracts renewed, of course, but we all now know that's far from a reliable option.
Liverpool's five sales
Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg understands that Liverpool have at least five sales in mind. Now, that doesn't mean all five leave, nor does it mean they're the only five leaving.
But it seems there is a shortlist of sorts.
"Potential departures include Caoimhin Kelleher, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, and Diogo Diogo Jota," he writes.

Kelleher is a simple one to understand. His contract expires in 2026 and he's actually wanted to leave for at least the last year.
We actually think Endo might now stay. At the same time, it's easy to see why he'd be on the chopping block, given he hasn't actually started a Premier League game this season.
Jota is a surprise to many but Anfield Watch understands he's a part of the summer overhaul plans. His fitness record just isn't good enough.
While Chiesa has barely played since arriving last summer. Under 30 combined minutes in the Premier League - that's not a player with a future.
Elliott might be the most interesting of the lot. His talent is undeniable but Slot rarely turns to him. Fortunately, he did against Paris Saint-Germain as the youngster scored the biggest goal of his career.
We still think he'll remain at the club - the next couple of months are massive, though.
