That's the brief, anyway. Several first-team stars are on the brink of leaving the club, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah at the front of that queue.

All three of them will be out of contract at the end of the campaign, after all. Liverpool are yet to sign them to new deals and as things stand, they're off.

Replacing them feels virtually impossible, particularly the latter two. Conor Bradley is a natural replacement for Alexander-Arnold, but the latter two are arguably the best in the world at what they do.

How do you replace that? We've been over several Salah alternatives before and honestly, it doesn't look great.

But there is hope! Liverpool will want to sign someone with the ability to develop into a world-class player and at least one player on that list has the tools to do just that.

Stop EVERYTHING: Harry Kane wants to join Liverpool

Liverpool and Bryan Mbeumo

Liverpool are reportedly fans of Bryan Mbeumo, who has been one of the standout players in an impressive Brentford team this season.

Mbeumo has 15 Premier League goals this season, assisting another five. It's the kind of output you'd hope to see from a player potentially replacing Salah on the right flank.

The only 'problem' is that Mbeumo has never really offered this kind of production before. Liverpool would be taking a real risk with him.

But the tools are there to keep this kind of form up. As pointed out by 433, Opta data shows Mbeumo as the third-fastest player in the Premier League this season.

Only Mickey van de Ven and Matheus Nunes have recorded faster speeds than him across the campaign. That's exactly the kind of weapon Liverpool would want in a new-look forward line.

And it suggests Mbeumo does have that something special which could carry his form forward. From Liverpool's perspective, it's a train they'll be eager to bring into the attack this season as pace is something they've lacked a little.

We think this is a really positive sign, then. Mbeumo may or may not be the chosen one to replace Salah, should the Egyptian leave, but that that top speed gives him the kind of skill that makes him a genuine option.

Pointless article when everyone with eyes knows that Traore is by far the quickest, and he's not mentioned, so the details are not to be believed.
