Liverpool have looked unstoppable at times this season, with Arne Slot leading his side to top of both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Despite this on-pitch success, the ongoing contract saga involving Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold is already forcing the Reds to look ahead to next summer.

Both Salah and Van Dijk have been linked with moves to Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League in recent days, and it has long been rumoured that Alexander-Arnold will move to Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract.

This will leave Liverpool looking for a real superstar to sign in the summer, to replace the output of their departing stars but also to save face with supporters, and their target may have just been revealed.

Mbeumo is being considered by Liverpool

One name that has drawn a lot of attention over the last 18 months in the Premier League is Bryan Mbeumo, the standout performer in Brentford’s side.

Mbeumo has 17 goals & assists in 26 games in all competitions this season and now, according to Graeme Bailey and Rousing the Kop, the Cameroon international is being considered for a summer move by Liverpool.

The report claims that Liverpool are ‘seriously considering’ an approach for Mbeumo, who Brentford value at around £50-60 million.

Mbeumo is not available in the winter window but is likely to move on from the Gtech Community Stadium next summer.

Would Mbeumo be a good replacement for Mo Salah?

Salah is one of the best talents in world football and as such replacing him will be no easy task.

Multiple names have been suggested as possible replacements including Takefusa Kubo, Antoine Semenyo and now Mbeumo.

Mbeumo already has experience in the Premier League and has 22 league goals since the start of last season, more than Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.

A fee of around £50 million would be very reasonable too, especially when considering the £59 million PSG have just spent on Kkvicha Kvaratskhelia and the £68 million Manchester City are reportedly spending on Omar Marmoush.

Replacing the Egyptian King is an almost impossible task, but Mbeumo is one player who could be up for the challenge.

Salah’s departure from Anfield hasn’t been confirmed yet, and supporters will hope he stays for years to come, but Bryan Mbeumo could be the man to replace him if his time does come to an end in Merseyside.
