Liverpool transfer news today: Bremer TOP target, NO CHANGE with Trent, Gravenberch LEAVING?
With August fast approaching, Liverpool remain the only Premier League club yet to make a senior signing this summer.
However, the areas new boss Arne Slot would like to strengthen are no secret, and now, his top transfer target has emerged, according to reports.
Here's a roundup of the latest Liverpool transfer rumours from Monday 29 July.
Bremer, Liverpool's top summer target
Now that Copa America is over, Liverpool have named Juventus defender Gleison Bremer as their top target this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds will push ahead for the 27-year-old Brazilian as the long-term replacement for the recently departed Joel Matip.
It's anticipated that any transfer fee would exceed the £36 million spent to take Ibrahima Konate from Leipzig in 2021.
Fabrizio Romano issues Trent update
For Liverpool fans, Trent Alexander-Arnold's return to the club can't come soon enough. The player's links to Real Madrid just won't go away, and his summer activities with pal Jude Bellingham are quickly turning this into the biggest transfer saga of the summer.
Now, with the growing speculation about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has weighed in with his view on the situation.
"Absolutely no change in Trent’s current situation despite reports,” Romano said in his Daily Briefing. "As I always repeat, footballers are friends but it means nothing in terms of transfers.
Reds 'register interest' in Gyokeres
Football Insider claims Liverpool have registered their interest in Viktor Gyokeres, a lethal striker who helped lead Sporting CP to the Portuguese title.
The Swede is coming off an extraordinary campaign in which he scored 43 goals in 49 games, attracting interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Surprise exit on the cards for Gravenberch
Reports from Turkey suggest that Galatasaray are ready to accelerate talks with Liverpool over a surprise move for Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
The Turkish giants believe the Reds are open to letting Gravenberch depart after his debut campaign on Merseyside and are seeking a loan deal.
Baris Yilmaz favours Liverpool move
German journalist Christain Falk believes Liverpool don't need to worry about interest from the Bundesliga if they want to follow up on interest in Baris Yilmaz.
Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are all interested in the Turkish winger but Falk understands that the Reds can have him for around £23.5m if they want him.
CHAMBERS SET TO RETURN TO WIGAN
According to reports from the Daily Mail's Lewis Steele, Liverpool defender Luke Chambers is on the brink of finalising a return to Wigan Athletic on loan.
First, though, he will first have the opportunity to impress Slot for the remainder of the club's time in the United States.
Van den Berg slams hefty price tag
Despite reports that Arne Slot and his coaching staff like what they see from Dutch centre-back Sepp van den Berg, the player himself believes the club are valuing him too highly — and, therefore, pricing him out of a summer move.
"I know in today’s market [high prices] will happen," said Van den Berg, per the Liverpool Echo. "For the price they want for me, hmmm… Liverpool may think it is right as I had a good season".
Van den Berg has been heavily linked with a return to Germany and a switch to PSV Eindhoven.
Southampton and Leicester in for Doak
The Daily Mail reports that several Premier League clubs are circling Liverpool teenager Ben Doak.
The 18-year-old Scot, who had a difficult time with injuries last season, is attracting interest from the newly promoted Southampton and Leicester City.
